If the federal Government prompted the increase because they felt oit was priced too cheap in the country compared to other West African countries, they should as well increase fuel price and salaries because Nigeria have the lowest compared to other countries. Nansense angry

I don't really know what's really wrong with this country, this country is getting tough and tough each passing day... I don't know if our FG even sit down and reason for the way forward of this country and I keep asking myself if they still have something good for this country.

The NCC and FG agree with this decision, currently the network isn't good and the Nigerians are still managing it and now they're coming up in increasing the data price, wen you've a bad network and complain to the NCC they won't do anything, wen u complain of deduction on your air time they won't do anything.

Dear my fellow Nigerian, A directive has been sent out by the Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC) to all telecommunication network in Nigeria. This will result in increase of data rates which will take effect from 1st of December, 2016. I am very sure your service provider has notified you about this development already.
In this year and time we live in, Data is suppose to be more affordable and not more expensive. And looking at the ease/advantages the internet has added to our everyday life, increment of data rates will only make it harder to access the internet thereby taking us backwards instead of forward.
Therefore, In disagreement with this move by NCC and telecommunication companies, we have made an effort stop this from taking effect by creating an online petition at Change.org and we need you to sign it to show your support. The link to the petition is: https://www.change.org/p/nigeria-communication-commission-ncc-data-plans-rates-by-carriers-in-nigeria-should-not-be-increased-by-ncc?recruiter=642402116&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
Please I already believe you would sign this petition to show your support for us and against NCC. But you also have to share/re-broadcast this message to as many people as you can. Thank you as you do so.

GLO WILL STILL GIVE US A VERY FAIR DATA PRICE, ONLY HI-TECH THIEVES LIKE MTN, AIRTEL WILL QUICKLY OBLIGE AND AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE NEW RATES FROM 30TH, OF NOVEMBER. If you want to subscribe, you better do it today, waiting for 31st is a disaster because i know it will be more than the new rates again JUST LIKE WHAT DSTV DID. VERY SOON, YOU WILL SEE THEY WILL MAKE HUGE MONEY FROM IT AGAIN LIKE ........ they will say "if you want government to stop the extra charge" TEXT 5050 to 3322 for 50 naira and many mumu will follow send.
Besides, government is borrowing trillions outside, tasking us dry within. Do these people want to let amadioha bury their children alive?

Baba there are only 30 days in november grin

Arrant nonsense angry

Thank u very much for your comment, it's supposed to be the GSM operators complaining, I know its a way for the govt to gag the masses esp after the death of the social media bill that they intended to pass.

They know the importance and strength of the social media, and they now want to try and limit our knowledge of their many atrocities. We must not allow this to stand if not many more draconian policies against the masses will soon follow.

I have never seen such an oppressive government in my life! The reason for this hike is basically to shut out Nigerians who are increasingly taking their frustration against the government to the social media. Buhari and his band of thieves including Lai Mohammed et al are evil.

Not true.
Just like voice calls, NCC only introduced data floor price (The data floor price is the minimum allowable price per MB).
Before now, there was no floor price so any telco can decide to sell data at any price of their choice.

If it is allowed to continue that way, some of the telcos may fold-up which will lead to job loss and also drive investors away.
Just imagine if Vodacom decides to pull their tariff plans down just to kill smaller telc coys like Lebara.
Rather than wait until that happens(since Glo has been pushing them)NCC decided to introduce floor price. For voice calls, NCCs current floor price is 11k/sec.

The price will still be between the range of 1300-1500 for 1.5G
