My anger is that Buhari has decimated opposition. We don't have NLC, Human rights activists have all gone awol, etc. Non to speak for us.

If this had happened under GEJ, Ojota would've been occupied by now. Please let no one deceive you that it's PDP's fault, that ship has sailed.

By 2019, Buhari will shutdown Social media for elections. Nairaland.com, twitter, Lindaikeji, Facebook will all be closed down.

It better they just stop the use of smartphone. See no reason to using smartphone with no data. This same regime promise 1naira to a $ but reverse is the case.

This is a mischievous report. The increase was not a FG(Presidency directive), rather it came about as a result of complaints of the smaller companies and new entrants (Smile and Ntel).

And the children of israel cried unto Samuel saying give us a king

And God said unto Samuel, I have heard the grumblings of the children of israel, I will give them a king that will take their vineyard, tax them and increase their yoke, for they want change, and change they will get

this is change, change we must get,but I can predict that till the end of the pages of this thread, zombies of the federal Republic of Nigeria will not make a single meaningful comment, even though this is an issue that affects every irrespective of party affiliation, some may even use their alternate handles to view, smh

Not true.
Just like voice calls, NCC only introduced data floor price (The data floor price is the minimum allowable price per MB).
Before now, there was no floor price so any telco can decide to sell data at any price of their choice.

If it is allowed to continue that way, some of the telcos may fold-up which will lead to job loss and also drive investors away.
Just imagine if Vodacom decides to pull their tariff plans down just to kill smaller telc coys like Lebara.
Rather than wait until that happens(since Glo has been pushing them)NCC decided to introduce floor price. For voice calls, NCCs current floor price is 11k/sec.

The price will still be between the range of 1300-1500 for 1.5G

Just hear yourself out.... Did u make any sense?
Abeg make I no pour vexation and frustration on top u ooo

He does make sense. The floor price was set because companies like Ntel, Smile and Spectranet complained to NCC.

Just because of 2 companies

If it's not from FG, I believe the retinue of Social media SA's must have seen this news and reported it to FG. The FG knows about it and have approved it.

Dear my fellow Nigerian, A directive has been sent out by the Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC) to all telecommunication network in Nigeria. This will result in increase of data rates which will take effect from 1st of December, 2016. I am very sure your service provider has notified you about this development already.
In this year and time we live in, Data is suppose to be more affordable and not more expensive. And looking at the ease/advantages the internet has added to our everyday life, increment of data rates will only make it harder to access the internet thereby taking us backwards instead of forward.
Therefore, In disagreement with this move by NCC and telecommunication companies, we have made an effort stop this from taking effect by creating an online petition at Change.org and we need you to sign it to show your support. The link to the petition is: https://www.change.org/p/nigeria-communication-commission-ncc-data-plans-rates-by-carriers-in-nigeria-should-not-be-increased-by-ncc?recruiter=642402116&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
Please I already believe you would sign this petition to show your support for us and against NCC. But you also have to share/re-broadcast this message to as many people as you can. Thank you as you do so.

Thanks for this. However, (petition does not work in Nigeria as much as it works in developed Nations i.e. online petition), in addition to this, let your organization involve a lawyer, file an action against NCC and join the GSM operators as parties. Set aside a date that Multitude will besiege their offices nationwide and occupy for a whole day. I will sign the petition but that in itself cannot restrain them.

Well, i am multitasking because i am a very busy person so i may not have broken it down to a level that you will understand.
But you can ask me what you don't understand. Who vex epp? Even if you wan vex, no be with your mate dem?

But i think you should know this-

Unlike voice, there was no floor price for data before now so NCC recently gave a directive that all data plans/offerings must align with a newly introduced data floor price. This benchmark will be painful to data users as some telcos may have to increase their data tariff but it will give these telcos the opportunity of facing how they can improve their quality of service rather than focus on how much competition is selling data.
I disagree that the floor price(minimum allowable price) will be 1.5GB for 3k.
I think it will be between 1200-1500 for 1.5GB.
Does it make small sense now?

NCC as a body is there to regulate the market and ensure a level playing field for every company. The telcos have market share and can squeeze out the competition if not checked.

This is not the first time NCC is mandating a company to increase the price.

if indeed it's to protect newer entrants, then those ones have to realize their undoing. We need to launch a campaign to boycott them, because we didn't send for them in the first place. There was no public outcry for flamboyant and expensive 4g data, all we always demanded for was good and cost effective internet since inception.
I am not surprised when a northerner is in charge of NCC. They never know the importance of data in the 21st century. Have you seen an Hausa man use a browsing phone? The ones that are privileged to have use it only to defend Allah related posts and buhari. They all don't deserve more than 10mb.
