What's the proposal for job creation
Restructuring is nowhere to be found after prof burst the empty restructuring mantra.
I think we need buhari to continue. The entrepreneural drive of this administration is worth it.
Most guys now have corporate accounts as a result of cheap and easy CAC registration. Easier to access loans and consular services (if you know)
Kudos to pmb, his investment in security worked hence it's not in Atiku's agenda.
Do you live in Nigeria?

I would like to agree bt I’m not sure where this policy document aimed at. Is it to enrich the rich and to enable the middle class or suffering masses.

Based on experience in Nigeria privatization hasn’t gotten us anywhere besides enrich sm folks overnight. Are we going back to the flamboyant days of much talk and selfish actions. We must learn from the mistakes of the past or we will be going in circles.

Lastly I will advise Atiku to work with very credible people/Nigerians in his economic team not the usual bunch of selfish politicians and political businessmen that are basically after their pockets only. There are many credible technocrats with vast experience ready to genuinely serve the country. If Nigeria must work again.

They don't want anything other than their person staying in power. If Buhari tomorrow says he'd sell NNPC, these same individuals will latch unto it and extol it like it'd be Newton's Fourth Law of Motion. They did same with fuel subsidy.

APC and their supporters are cancer.

What is this one saying...

If Nigeria had not privatalize NITEL we would still be at Stone age.

Nigerians and Nigeria making more profit in tax and penalties from MTN and Co. Plus the advantage of having well run Telecommunication firm.

NNPC is the head quarters of fraud and underdevelopment.
It should be openly debated, let economy experts analyse the option of privatalizing it.

Lol it’s really pathetic that you’re always quick label whoever makes an attempt to critique a proposed policy a propagandist. Maybe you have to go through my previous contributions on NL to know I’m far from being one. Learn to accept objective criticisms. We failed to ask the right questions on all the fake promises of APC in 2015 and that’s why we are here today, dollar exchanging to one naira in our dreams and enjoying the power sector Fashola promised to fix in 6 months. I do not think it’s wise to repeat same.

To the topic, it’s a power sector issue and it’s a whole lot. I have said a lot about it too and even most recently, on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/4816247/protest-against-bedc-benin-native/1

You may want to read through. For those who know much about this sector, you’d know that the power sector is at best on life support at the moment.

Talk is cheap.... any politician who does not have plans to address d fat envelops those pot belly grannies in house of assemblies along side those of the senators and all their unmerited heartbreaking allowance that is continually contributing to the economic tsunami that has been rampaging this country is not ready to contest for presidential sit not to talk of becoming a president..... it is quiet unfortunate dat a 58year old country has politicians who still use social infrastructure and amenities in their campaigning manifestos....what rubbish a country where d leaders introduces what dey call free education to our public schools, but cannot dare take even their own grand kids to those schools because what they call free education is indid free"FREE OF EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE "a country where the minister of health would not dare patronize its public or private hospital even when Dia medical case is as minor as headache because they don't trust our medical practitioners and d invisible medical equipment they keep advertising on social media that dey are equipping our hospitals with.....IT IS HIGH TIME WE STOP LISTENING TO THIS CRIME MINDED LOOTERS PARADING THEMSELVES AS POLITICIAN WITH THEIR MISS-LEADING CAMPAIGING PROMISES WEATHER FROM APC OR PDP AND START HOLDING THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MESS THEY DRAGGED THIS COUNTRY INTO

These are what we call realistic achievable targets. Not we'll tar all the roads, revitalize railway, boost agriculture, provide 24/7 power, and similar empty, reckless promises.

These are concrete milestones with specific timelines that we can certainly achieve when there's the political will.

as vp for 8yrs that was what he did,, privatize anything govt but we all know how its all went down to nothing .... everything atiku privatise then are depending on FG now to stay operational ...

Nigerians are not interested in progress. What we are interested in is that the person I support won elections just like the support for a football clubside.

I have been wondering why God has not come to our aid, but why should anyone come to the aid of the most unobjectice people in existence?

I like your analogy.

The root of our problem is not far-fetched.

I read a paper released after studies were done on the behavioral patterns of urban electorates in America. Politicians use different emotional triggers and visuals when they campaign in different districts. They will talk to white districts like they are in corporate meeting. When they go to black districts the stage is set up to mimick the church. Pastors in the district are seated in front row. The party candidate mount the podium and speak to the black electorate in sermons. Soon they are roused, and begin to view the candidate like they would their pastor, the man of God.

Here in Nigeria our electorates have adopted football league as a part of their daily life. Watch centers, betting kiosks, jerseys, car stickers, wall posters....we treat foreign football league like a synagogue and we worship the actors in it like we would the deities. Our politicians know what affects our spirit positively and what buttons to push to elicit a desired response in their favor. When they want us to attack the opposition they switch and present it to us like a football club. We respond like a programmed doll. Our club is under attack, Manchester vs Liverpool. grin

I really love your observation. If i were writing a dissertation again I would adopt it for research study.
