Selling NNPC means it will be a publicly traded company with the govt having a minority stake (may be 30%) and selling the remaining on the financial market

That's the best thing that can happen to Nigeria

if not for anything, nnpc will be forced to publish their audited statements on a yearly basis, not this criminal arrangement we have

But then, Nigerians, being the dimwitted empty headed mofos will fight against this good idea due to ignorance undecided
they will help the elite fight against it.

Even the UK survive majorly on Taxes. What then will be the alternative source of revenue Generation? Given that taxes are a major source of revenue.
Lol maybe oil since it seems Nigeria’s destiny has been premised on it. We have one of the lowest Value Added Tax in the world at 5%. Maybe Atiku should be more precise about the taxes he would cut. Maybe income or withholding taxes.

I think it’s important we look inwards. About 40% taxable incomes are still uncaptured in the tax net. Solve this first and see how you’d boost your tax revenue, then tax cut can follow. Taxation of luxuries is also one tax policy that is capable of augmenting our tax revenue if appropriately administered. Let’s stop making the poor poorer.

The atiku approach looks like it could be a game changer.

Every developing nation with huge population cuts taxes down to bring in more business and create more jobs.

China, Indonesia, and even the US under Trump are examples just to attract more jobs and reduce unemployment

We cannot compete with countries like Ethiopia, Egypt or even South Africa in infrastructure for now.

How do we then encourage businesses to come here and create wealth?.
By cutting taxes significantly.

It is a very proactive policy. Aleast it shows direction. compared to the "anywhere Belle face" system of the buhari era that has multiplied poverty

That is so 2015. Wake up. No one is falling for that anymore.

Explain why we can't achieve it or sh*t your trap.

Atiku have plans ,he is an educated man that knows what it takes to be leader not President alone. Atiku is business oriented ,he knows what is economy that's why we want him to come and build Nigeria again. All we need to now is join hands together and chase out hunger, poverty and herdsmen in Nigeria as we vote for PDP come 2019 presidential election

How are you making the poor poorer by reducing taxes across board?

The only way to reduce poverty is to create lots of jobs, and improve our industrial capacity.

And the only way to encourage those two things to happen is to create an incentive by reducing taxes.

It is private businesses that feed the poor, not the FG taxes.

To generate 200000mw of electricity, you will need good power generation stations in Nigeria, the size of mambilla Hydro power, which is about 3000mw, the largest dam in Nigeria so far. And you will need about 5 of them.

To construct each dam takes like 6years, that is if they are constructed simultaneously. Of course, the funds needs to be there.

This is 2019. Anyone who promises 200000mw of electricity by 2025 is not being honest.

Selling isn't the problem, but I can bet that oga atiku will sell it at an extremely cheap price for himself & cronies which will end up making matters worse. Just look at all the companies belonging to Nigeria that was privatised under his watch & you will see how deceitful the man is

Some companies are in a bad shape and may not do well after an acquisition. A good number of the privatised companies are doing well. How does the present state of NNPC profit you as an individual ? The present southern sun hotel use to be a government owned hotel but was privatised and is in a much better state. Oando and forte oil were also privatised government owned enterprises. NNPC of today is not working and not profitable . A working NNPC should be able to compete with aramco, Agip , Total , BP and many more . It’s up to you if you like things the way they are but I can assure you that Nigeria is lagging behind in so many areas and the earlier we do away with strategies that are not working the better . Nigeria is too complex as a country with enormous challenges far beyond the mental capabilities of Buhari and I’d wish that the best candidate wins irrespective of the candidate’s party

Easy man...Generating 20,000 megawatts by 2025 is not rocket science for any serious and sane country. Look at the Chinese model.
The problem is the "Who"?. Atiku? Hell no. He's a criminal. He was once the Vice President of this same country where billions of $ were spent on this same illusive electricity generation. Sane people won't buy these "empty" promises.
The problem is these crop of politicians can't and won't lead us to the eldorado.

My argument of making the poor poorer refers to some people’s argument to increase taxes.
Truth is, your tax cut cannot be effective when you don’t have a comprehensive tax system. 40 million taxable incomes not being under your tax net means whether you give a tax cut or not, those ones have been on a self-granted tax holiday. So your tax policies do not even affect them in the first place. Capture all taxable incomes first before going ahead with a tax cut and that’s how everyone can benefit and feel the impact of such policies.

Two, fixing the power sector is even more beneficial to businesses than any tax cut. The likes of Dunlop and other over 100 factories did not move out of Nigeria because they wanted a tax cut but because of inadequacies of power supply.

Three, in a system where you have enormous leakages like ours, whatever policies you pursue wouldn’t mean much. Cut taxes and the little you collect would still be embezzled.

Privatize NNPC and sell to your cronies. Reduce taxes so that your businesses and those of your cronies would not remit funds to the government. Even though buhari is a huge mistake, I read the type of looting that would happen under atiku
are you allergic to economic policies? reducing corporate taxes has the propensity to give companies note opportunities to grow. You can't be taxing corporates profits heavily and be hoping these companies grow. Already most Abuja businessmen are complaining of multiple and excess taxes that is choking their businesses.

The poor wants jobs, the poor want food.

Taxes have not done anything for them. It is embezzled anyway.

I am not talking about the likes of tinubu. I am taking about genuine businesses who as a result of low taxes, can now survive the Nigerian harsh climate and expand.

Do you know how many poor are thrown into the unemployment market, because their jobs could not survive multiple taxation as well as high cost of business.?

How many countries do you know that will sell their government owned companies to private citizens all in the name of privatization?
Those who sold the electricity discos, how far have the fake companies improved the light situation; I'm sure you'll blame PMB for that.
The only thing Atiku knows is probably how to privatize government companies.
I think the best thing he should do is to privatize Aso rock given that he wins the election.
