Goodluck to them, but seriously all these Nigerian billionaires wetin una dae use una money do, if not for oil and politics is their nothing else in your heads, u can't imagine the billions leaving Nigeria as a result of this foreign companies.

Even our least telecoms Glo is Africa's least competitive and Nigeria's most useless network.

If our politicians stealing our money can be investing it in Nigeria instead if using it this go and buy shares in companies overseas and in foreign bank by now Nigeria for don better

You're quite right. However, you may not be able to appreciate the depth of resolve required to develop an infrastructure business in Nigeria. The frustrations are daunting. Low hanging fruits (Oil businesses) provide easier alternatives. There's no valor in making life harder for one. Except you're maybe an Elon musk.

Probably they will buy Airtel and turn it to Orange... I doubt if they can compete with an already saturated market.

Etisalat tried it, it failed....there is no crime in trying... let's see how far it will go..

I wish you well.
the reason etisalat failed is because their data plan was of no difference to what was already available, infact it was more expensive so why will people port.
Although etisalat had a pay per time plan through their app then and I enjoyed it because it wasn't capped but it was short lived. If they had advertised that they would have gotten an increase in customers.

Buying 9mobile would be a better option instead of starting from the scratch

Even if they start from scratch.
If they can start from Lagos, Reduce price of data, have strong/ lasting data and they have high speed network stating from 4g and above.

believe me, they'll catch up, but might take years

1st, no market is ever saturated. Limitless opportunities are always there in every given market.

2. Competing in a Telecom industry in Nigeria and south Africa should not be too hard for a company like orange, if they get there acts right.
Since there are opportunities as you claim, why is smile still struggling? Why the CDMA network crashed out of Nigeria market since they had the presence more in big cities like Lagos?

Netflix has started that already but is it only movies and big brother that Nigerians watch.?

Well I might quite agree with you.
Reason being in Nigeria, we don't like quality but quantity.

Orange is highly welcome in naija. We are about to see the fall of data price. Affordable data is the key

I love competition because it brings innovative, price reduction and value for money for the subscribers however, I consider the company's cost and feasibility

Not really saturated bro... It depends on the strategy. Who will ever thought that etisalate could stand a chance that year, but their strategy was superb. It's all about strategy, they can take advantage of the high internet data rate u know... Strategy bro.. Strategy!

Exactly! Many Nigerians want quality at the expense of quality, that is why these service providers gives fake 4g LTE

Exactly my thought. Europe long have a record of taking every opportunity to spy on and exploit African countries. Their resources and sources of revenue are fast on the decline. Just as the likes of Columbus and European elites convened to share African resources to themselves long before the colonial era, Africa is the new market and the reason why world leaders are fighting a cold war on our land, yet we can't even see it, but too naive and blinded to accept anything. As for the coming of Orange, I am not in a position to judge criticize anything. If their intentions turns our genuine (something rare with Europeans), then we have no problem, but bear in mind that whatever business Europeans bring to Africa is not an indication that they actually mean well for us.
We have all the resources and even good education, yet impoverished, so bad.

By the way what is really wrong with our networks? Nairaland is full of Nigerians who are never honest and sincere with themselves.
Personally I can say I have some depth of satisfaction for the networks I am using. For instance this morning, I had just 39 naira balance and was alerted in the usual way that I have low airtime, but I still talked further for another 4 minutes, not from any bonus account (pulse don't give talk bonus). I am rocking my mtn pulse,so what are these complains about?

I dont trust France. They may want to use this opportunity to spy on Nigeria.

Of course it is for our benefit but am looking at the long run effect. If Vodacom and Etisalat would pack out, then there is something we aren't seeing

Not really, what brought about their liquidation was poor management especially on the side of managing loans. As par dominating larger portion of the telecom Market then, they really succeeded, which is why 9mobile still have an edge today.

you're are loosing points already it was first Vodacom Airtel took over, etisalat 9mobile took over although they made it worst.
There's something I'll like to point out there, none of those who took over is a giant in there country of origin orange is different they'll most likely take over the dying etisalat or partner with glo,the point is that if they offer great plans especially being the first to offer true unlimited plans I for one will buy their sim and people will buy.
All they need is publicity.

you don't get him Netflix took over the market from DStv showmax in online streaming service, did you know DStv complained when Netflix first arrived stating that it wasn't a fair competition it means they make a lot from it also.
I know what you mean but it's different from the normal subricbtions, this one has to do with searching for a movie or show and streaming it.
