Sure everyone wants to claim the father of a wealthy child without fact but little coincidence they can dig up

The question you should be asking is the edo and Yoruba history really routed in history or just a mere propaganda

Mr man you've been embarrassed severally. I don't understand how a record of over 500 years is propaganda. That's crazy! Especially when you literally have no evidence or anything academic or scholarly. It's embarrassing. Nigeria is what is making people like you insecure about some ancient history. You feel sad that a descendant of what is now yoruba a major ethnic group in the contraption called Nigeria once brought civilization and keeps ruling you. You think it's a coincidence that from the late 1960s to 1970s that oba erediauwa in an attempt to assert some form of independence for his people and some pride as a distinct group began to re write stories of over 500 years?? Ekaladerhan who died in ughatan all of a sudden became oduduwa, some even said oranmiyan. All this to assertions that the kingship has some paternal edo link. Nigeria happened and the British did whatever they liked. They increased the difference between groups and that's what you are suffering from. In the olden days( mostly pre colonial and even pre European contact) Kingdoms went against each other, yes between some kingdoms there was shared heritage like for instance oyo, ijebu, ijesha, ife and benin. They knew this but the idea of ethnicity wasn't ingrained. So the benin kings could proudly know where they came from and pay respect to ife while at times they could be in conflict with other kingdoms from ife. Same as the other yoruba kingdom states. In the past the bini palace was bi linguistic. The lingua franca was lukumi(ancient yoruba) and was spoken by many of Bini people both with ife ancestry and core bini people that's why there's so much inter relationship and why today's bini language has some yoruba dipped in many bini names have yoruba prefixes and suffixes.

And as to your spurious claims no one actually cares. It's usually bini people with crazy threads and on YouTube and on every media space trying to show some form of superiority with you being the leader here on nairaland, i mean this ridiculous thread was started by you and the question has been shown to be a lie and another attempt by you to show superiority. Only that your position is completely alien to what your compatriots say who don't deny the obvious relationship but turn it on its head, infact i somehow respect your position because at least you are not telling lies about Oduduwa and oranmiyan whether you believe they are real or not but at the end of the day your goals is similar to them at its core; you lot are trying to feel independent and unique in a nigerian space that has highlighted differences between groups. And that's why in the face of so much evidence you on one hand deny any relationship which is absurd the others try to turn any relationship on its head as emanating from bini

(1) The Edos who were still roaming stark n@ked without shame in as recent as the early-1900s.

Refer to the 1st attachment from page 24 of H.L. Roth(1903).

(2) I mean, there are many things you don't know, but an interesting one which I would love to highlight for you is the following from page 103 of H.L Roth(1903):

"Lieut. King found that “the king can sell his subjects when convicted of crime, or when they have incurred his displeasure." The royal right of abuse seems to have survived to the last days, for Gallwey (p. 129) mentions that “the Benin people are free, but are treated as slaves by the king, the title of king's slave being considered an honour." We have seen above that for different reasons the king claimed male children, widows and slaves belonging to deceased subjects; he could hardly get much more, so that the mass of the people were practically slaves to the king, and those who were not to the king were so to their chiefs."

Please note that the Yoruba King of Benin wouldn't have considered you Edos as slaves if he was truly an Edo like you all.

Moreover, he has the right of royal abuse to sacrifice any of you his slaves to Yoruba gods of Benin as is seen in the 2nd attachment.
