I’m not really sure what “all these” entails sha. It’s a two bedroom flat 2500sqf approx. I’ve got smart speakers littered all over (Amazon echo dots), smart lights and some nest sensors. I needed something that could broadcast across the entire space without the need for a mesh or extender. This Linksys did just that. I love the performance. I can stream games from my PS5 in the living room to my pc in my room lag free. The performance is dope. Oh yeah, I also got the Ethernet adapter. All this won’t happen without it.

I want to ask, if I use starlink ethernet adapter and do bypass connecting to another router for other devices, will starlink Router be serving its function as a router or completely off while transferring its router function to the third party router

I already asked Stanley08 this question, but he yabbed me grin

My starlink Router is currently placed in my room upstairs with fantastic speed while we spend most of the time in the living room downstairs watching other Internet devices too..Speed is not as fantastic as it should be

I intend to use tp Link router downstairs when my starlink ethernet adapter is shipped

Will the Starlink adapter in the room still serve its purpose of providing wifi service on the room or will it transfer all it's wifi service to this 3rd party router

Well if you plug the adapter and run an Ethernet cable to your tp link, you will have two wifi signals.

Fun fact: you can name the second wifi signal the same name as the starlink wifi signal and you will have a rudimentary form of a mesh network. (You’ll have to tinker to get the security parameters and channels right for this to work).

If you want to bypass the starlink completely, there is a toggle in settings (click advanced settings) and you’ll be able to turn off the starlink router and all it’ll be is a power source for the dishy. All routing functions would be passed on to your router (tp link)

EDIT: If the model of your tplink is those n300 routers, be aware that you’ll not have access to the 5ghz band and it’s speeds. So if that’s important, make sure you’re using a dual band router with MU-MIMO functionality.

Lol no lie for my head, I no yab anybody. Both devices will share wifi. 2 access points with different wifi ranges. I would imagine. For best speeds, you need to be closer to the access point especially if it's range isn't great. So basically. Running a long cable downstairs and then connecting the second router downstairs.

I'll always advice that you setup your Starlink router where you spend the most time or at least in a central location, but yh I also understand that this isn't always possible.

Eheenn..shey no be u yab me about staying in a duplex grin grin... I go check again
Setting it up where one normally stays isn't always achievable. My only option was my bedroom.. Infact, the engineer had to bore small hole through my pop wall( my eye red oo). But what can I do... Like I said, I dey get decent speed downstairs ooo... But I want it stronger

I noticed the starlink 2.4ghz speed increases when you turn on airplane mode before connecting to the starlink 2.4ghz band. The 2.4ghz band speed increased from 30-40mbps to 50-60mbps when I did that. So if your device cannot detect the faster 5ghz band and you don't want to spend extra money on starlink Ethernet adapter plus mesh, you can increase your 2.4ghz speed from around 30-40mbps to 50-60mbps. It's not much but it's better than nothing. The airplane mode has to remain turned on after you connect to starlink 2.4ghz band. The downside is you can't receive phone calls with airplane mode turned on

I don't want to bypass the Starlink completely.

I want to have network up in my room where the Starlink Router and ethernet adapter will be sitting, then network cable is already run from my room downstairs to my sitting room where I want to place the TP-Link router and hope to get a more decent speed too

Just do as already posted. Run LAN cable connected to the starlink adapter to your second router in living room. I'll suggest you give the WiFi a different name from the starlink WiFi. So that you know exactly which one you are connected to. In case you need to trouble shoot something.
That TP-Link router is not dual band (2.4/5 Ghz) though. So you'll only be getting connection on the 2.4 ghz band. I will suggest you invest in a dual band router so that you can get similar speeds as you are getting on the starlink router's 5GHz.

@georgee I was going to suggest this, don't name them the same thing like seunpayne suggested. Use different names so you can tell where your problem is coming from lol. If it's not mesh, it can't be seamless like mesh so no need to stress yourself. The only way to get access one of 2 access points with same SSID (WiFi name) is turning one off. The performance will be noticeably worse. If you want good speeds, invest in a good mesh system like my boss @toluxa1 or at least a dual band router

Don’t want to get into an argument with anybody. If it’s just ground floor you want to cover while having the Starlink upstairs, get a dual band router. Mesh solutions apart from being more expensive are not one-size-fits-all. Tp-link has dual band wifi 6 routers for less than 100k and you can get them in naija easily.

Tp-link AX1500 is a good example

Tx a lot.. It's just the the ground floor (Living room I want to av quality network). This is what I am currently pulling downstairs in the living room with the Starlink Router placed upstairs in my bedroom

Do you think I really need this other router/Starlink Ethernet Adapter or I should just continue enjoying my Starlink as it is

Upstairs in the bedroom... Speed is up to 200Mbps

Downstairs in the living room... 30/40Mbps

Omo, I need a solution to extend starlink all the house. It's a very big house horizontally speaking. Like 90-100 meters. Plus plenty rooms and walls. Chai.

If you know wifi well do you know any wireless solution (I don't want to wire house) I can use to get it work all that huge space with walls.
If possible extend further to another building 20m from it too.

Or if you know am expert too u can link to me

That's enough for video streaming and normal Internet usage. I believe that's what you'll be doing downstairs.
You'll need heavy one in your room where I believe you'll be doing your work, heavy streaming or gaming.

I think that's enough.

So a great wifi connection is important for more than just internet speed. Your wifi is responsible for a lot more than that. I have smart lights, smart speakers, Network assisted storage for streaming movies and document storage and sharing all hooked up at home. That 300mbps bandwidth will disappear very quickly once you’re streaming a 1080p movie wirelessly from your computer to your TV for example.

So I think it is a very decent investment. Do you need it NOW? Maybe not. Will you need it in the future? Most likely.

I think they may still have two or three left. I will find out.

So I have been building WLAN installations for the last 7 years and I think, if performance is important, a wireless uplink solution is a huge disadvantage.

By uplink I mean, imagine your internet connection comes from starlink, that’s your WAN (wide area network). Distributed inside your house is your LAN (Local area network). Now you can handle distribution wirelessly by deploying a WLAN network (wireless LAN).

I’m gonna be a bit technical so please bear with me.

Your starlink and any dualband router made in the last three years would most likely come with gigabit ports which support network speeds of up to 1000Gbps. So within that network you can do a lot of things apart from using the internet without affecting your internet speed. A typical example is when you do a speed test on starlink, one test measures the speed between the router and the internet . The other measures the speed between your device and the router. Finally you can also test between your device and the internet. Theoretically you would find that your results for the third test is most likely to be affected by the result of the second. The reason is because you can’t access the internet faster than your device’s connection to your uplink (router). And that’s why you want a very good uplink device.

Now what about distributing to the rest of the house? Well, if your run a cable from your uplink to another access point/router then you take advantage of the gigabit speeds. So if you test your speed from that device you will get the best speeds because your local connection is way faster than your internet speed.

Consider however, if you were using a 300mbs router for example, and your speed is throttling down to that speed despite the fact that your uplink is 1000gbps.

A better wifi 6 router/access point connected via cable could give you up to 6gbps wirelessly which is why everyone is asking you to get something better.

One last scenario, if your connection to your uplink is wireless however, (wireless extender or wireless mesh) your speeds drop really fast because wifi isn’t as fast a physical connection. In which case, unless you are using really top access points or mesh setups, you’ll basically be experiencing crappy bandwidth on your local network.

My fingers hurt. Shey you sha get the jist?

I'll use the Deco mesh system below to explain. I stay in a house with 3 floors. Ground, 1st, 2nd floors.
Starlink on 2nd Floor, all i have to do is plug one of the 3 deco nodes to the Starlink on the 2nd floor, then simply go down to the 1st floor, plug the 2nd Deco to a socket for power of course and then go down to the ground floor and plug the 3rd one. As you plug more Decos they talk to each other and join the network. You set it up with the Deco app on your phone.

Now my mesh network is setup. I name it whatever I want. (Naming comes after plugging the first one sha pol).
2nd Floor Deco is collecting internet from Starlink router via LAN and sharing it to 1st floor Deco via Wifi. (You can also use LAN which is actually prefered for better speeds. But you have to run cables).
1st Floor Deco now with Internet is sharing the internet to the ground floor deco via Wifi also. Or cable again if you want as each deco X55 has 3 LAN ports behind them. One to receive, 2 to share.

So thia creates like a WiFi "BUBBLE" around the whole house. And all you have to do is connect to the Deco mesh network Wi-fi SSID (Network name). That's all. As you move through the house, the deco system will automatically be switching you to the most optimal node closest to you using AI. So if I was in the garage for instance on the ground floor of course, I'll most likely be connected to the node on the ground floor.

And all this is done intelligently and not like disconnect and connect it just kinda slides you to the nearest node because it's just as if you have one very powerful router that's covering a big area.

So even if you have a warehouse as big as a football stadium, all you have to do is buy maybe 20 Decos and just be plugging them around. Liter them around lol. And in this way. The whole warehouse has good wifi signal while the Actual Internet router is at one corner.

E probably no even cover the 18 yard box area.

I hope this helps. Cheers

43 Mpbs is pretty decent. Sometimes we get carried away by speed. Except you can notice the slow internet connection, you should be good. Any good router should work fine. It doesn't have to be dual band. The router just need to provide coverage on the ground floor for you.
