I think africans should be proud of black americans for the simple reason that black americans (with the exception of black south africans)  have done much more to try to rid themselves from the shackles of white supremacy than possibly any other blacks worldwide.

The other thing to remember is that black americans are a minority living under a system of rule which has actively subjugated them for centuries, the fact that  segregation is now illegal in america does not mean that discrimination directed towards black americans (and blacks in general) does not exist.  Black americans have fought and continue to fight a whole superstructure created and designed to keep the vast majority of their people in a position of subservience.

I think we africans do not yet understand that we are as much victims of white supremacy as black americans are and thats why many of us actually think that we are in a better position - nothing could be further from the truth - we are facing the same enemy but the enemy just uses a different method to subjugate us.  We (black americans and black africans)  were both dehumanised, brainwashed and taught to hate ourselves by europeans.

With regard to africans our eurocentric education and religion has been able to  complete the task of making us docile, subservient followers of a system that made it impossible for us to be capable of standing on our own two feet.  This is why the average nigerian  is incapable of coming up with non eurocentric ideas or views on life - everything we do is based on mimicry and aping of western european educational systems, ideology and beleif systems.

As a result what you have are people in a permanent state of mental bondage - this brainwashed mental state of africans is the reason why white multinationals and financial institutions are able to continue to steal our natural resources, dupe and con our leaders and generally lead us down a path which will guarantee our destruction.

The brainwashed state of many africans is so entrenched that it prevents many of us from being able to even see let alone identify that white supremacy is the root cause of our problems.

To make matters even worse many of us are in a collective state of self delusion,  we do not even see the irony of our situation, ie that  in order to have half way decent lives we have to flee our countries of origin to live in countries where diasporan blacks have fought and won the very rights that we are denied in our own countries.

We AAs in America are very much educated and smart to wit on how to deal with white supremacy and the white man himself, so while some outsiders my thuínk we complain about every little thing when it comes to racism, the reality is that we're opening eyes and know where much better and deserve better than the crumbs from the white man's plate.

My own problem is that as a Nigerian, I have noticed that, in America, many AAs do not want to actively participate in (and learn) African culture. For example, you are less likely to see an AA go to an African restaurant to try African food; they always complain that it is too spicy. You are less likely to see an AA attend, say, a Femi Kuti or Sunny Ade concert; they usually say " I ain't going to that African ish." You are less likely to see an AA go to an African event or club to experience and dance to African music, save for some conscious AA patrons and female AAs, who are usually brought there by an African guy they are dating. On the other hand, white people are more likely to engage in all the aforsesaid things. If you doubt me, go on Youtube and search for a Femi Kuti concert or a Sunny Ade concert in America, and tell me how many AAs are in attendance.

Overall I am proud of many my AA brethren, even though they may have fallen short in some areas. And you cannot discount the nefarious effects of slavery. But overall, they have come a long way considering the history of white supremacy in America. AAs also need to read more and learn about the achievements of Africans. All the black billionaires on Forbes list are Africans, except for Oprah, who is at the bottom. And there are several African success stories.

No, me personally I am  extremely disappointed in these generations of Black Americans. Back in those days, AA then are powerful people. they did exceptional things, they stood for themselves. They fought to vote and to be counted among the living communities. they built their communities, they didn't rely on the government to build their communities and they act as role models. you know i never really thought of that bolded statement before. My kids will one day be labelled an "akata" one day. Hmmmmm. . . . food for thought. Anyway, my thoughts about  the ethnic african american is that they are completely hopeless and useless. Their whole concept of life is dwelling on R&B and having their pants slightly below the buttocks. for example, i never fully understood the role govt play or rather should play concerning education until i came to america. The govt does everything it can to sponsor your education to the fullest level through scholarships, grants and if you choose, the military. With all these largesse you find that most AA’s are reluctant to take advantage of these programmes and If they do sign up they ollect the grant and drop out of school when the check is their mail and wait for the next session to start the process again. I have never had the need to have an AA friend, you can never learn anything positive from them aside how to club, converse obnoxiously and wear oversized clothes. Also, their cries of being brought here against their will is enough. Sure they had a hard time but the America of today has compensated more than enough for those decades of transgressions. They just won’t take advantage of all the opportunities abound to them. Fracking lazy people.  Should just call them Africans instead of African Americans.
