Ron Oneal:

The definition of a black American to the ignorant jackasses in here Is a group of Americans of African descent whom they are jealous of and could never be as great as because of their inferiority complex. That applies only to the ignorant asswipes, ONLY!

Its funny how you mentioned earlier that you wouldn't stoop down to other people's level yet you're here calling people jackasses. This is a creative discussion so I don't understand why you felt the need to call others a jackass.

Donlittle:

when i call an AAs - african, they simply get mad and say that aint african, what do u want me to do, regard them as my own?? when they wnt even accept they have a black skin, they argue with me no am not africa, the first day i got to high school in u.s, the first question i heard was do i live on trees in africa and have i ever wore shoes before? how do u want me to be free with them? no i wont, i will always feel somehow because they neglect me.but stil i make friends with them, i talk about how these weeds can kill them and stuff, and u talkin bout looking up on AAs? i think you got it wrong,

Ever since my first day in  class, every AAs have look up to me to provide answers in class, i always come on top, my teachers even love me, u know what funny tho? when the teacher is talking.i hardly understand what she is sayig, but when she ask questions i always have the answer! we are all one,

Gbam!!!

If they end up marrying one, it is their choice. But, I always make them understand how useless AA are!

Thanks for that video deejay20. In addition I am not sure why we are stuck on questions asked us by ignorant high school kids. It is silly really. I went to high school here and got similar questions. In fact some idiot asked me if I swam here. Of course I told them yes I swam very fast. Key word here though is high school. I am yet to see an educated adult that would ask that. It might also be where people live also. Maybe for some of us it is different because we have had mostly positive interactions.

I see stupidity knows no bounds. Most comments are good, but I see the ignorance is alive and well. Kenezi, the website you posted is from 1999. Show something from now or recent. I can pull stuff off the web that disproves your nonsense. Bidemi12, you're a smart one. I went to college, got a degree in business administration, and most of the black grduates in my class were from the USA. It's obvious you get your dumb views from what you see in the media or a few individuals that are bad apples. Guess what? One individual's actions does not determine the actions of a group. I guess you like to have a holier-than-thou attitude. Evilspirit, your username rings true because you are evil. Hate, no matter the excuse, is evil and anybody who has hate is evil. You talk about morals while at the same time you have hate in your heart. I smell a hypocrite. As for Charles Taylor, he was a bad guy, no question. But are you saying that because of his individual, voluntary actions? Or are you combining him and his individual, voluntary actions in with your hate and stupidity? Smile11s, you're truly silly. Funny how your signature is "there's only one race and that is the human race" while at the same time referred to blacks in the US as a race. What a contradiction. So, which is it? I'll tell you, it's the former. Every group on this planet have a culture. Yes, this includes AAs. Why is it you think hip-hop music is the only music AAs created? Jazz music, house music, rock and roll, blues, doo-wop, gospel, techno - they're AA music, too. As for negative, Outstrip pretty much took the words out of my mouth.

You want to know which group of people is truly useless? People like you, smiley face. When I say that, I'm talking about folks of ALL colors, nationalities, ethnic backgrounds, religions, etc. that have nothing better to do with their sorry lives than spew ignorant bullshit and hate as if it's their job. And most of these folks do it on the world wide web. I guess all that anonymity gives folks the bravado they probably would never have if face-to-face with the hated. The individuals I named, along with MandingoII and Blazay, are examples of how stupid humans can be. They're really not worth it, but I felt like typing. And if some here don't like that there are non-Nigerians on this forum, too bad. This website is public and on the world wide web. That means it's accesible to the all people on Earth. It's not called the world wide web for nothing. Don't cry to me like a 6-year-old wanting a toy, cry to the moderators. But I doubt that would work given the threads and comments that are allowed.

Another moronic Nigerian post. Obviously I am not saying all AA’s are not educated or don’t want it but we are talking about percentages here. (I am already getting a migraine from replying this reeetard) from your post you should be a teenager so I am not surprised that you find nothing wrong with the vast majority who prance around with sagging pants and oversized jackets. Or is it that you basically allowed yourself to pass through the system and not the system passing through you? A common trait among Nigerians abroad. They notice nothing and only hustle for the day they go back home to announce their “arrival”. And from your information we are not talking about other groups, we are talking about AA’s. If you want to discuss other groups, let’s say . . . . . . Nigerians, please open a new thread and we will have millions to talk about. We obviously never met. Allow me to introduce myself. Hi, my name is A.D.M. (those are my initials). I'm a 24-year-old black/Afro-American man from Brooklyn, New York, United States (I'm not Nigerian). As I said, I have an Associate's degree in business administration and I plan on going for the bachelor's degree, then the master's. I also have an interest in computer programming. I have great parents who taught me how to be an astute contributor to the world in which I live. I also have a job. Nice to meet you. As for the sagging pants, I agree. It's very dumb. I always wonder to myself why some youngsters (that includes non-blacks) would do that. It's not a good look.

Let me add by saying Africans are the least critical of African Americans. Talk to Asians or other ethnic groups and you'll see that Africans have a soft spot for African Americans. There is no hatred, we're critical of each other like I'm critical of my blood brother. We are all victims of the white media propaganda machine, marginalization and brain washing. The conversation we are having is the one we have been programmed to have. What we should be talking about is getting together to take over the world, that will scare the pants off whitie who by the way, is 'OUR' real foe

A lot of those questions aren't just limited to high school experiences. Some of them have happened to those of use who have been to college or are still in college. Hell, a lot of those question still get asked to my dad at work tongue. Its just crazy and at times bizarre. Sometimes ya try to think at some point in time people will get some sense and perhaps enlighten themselves but that's just not the case undecided.

In America, racial minority represent 11.4 percent of the total U.S. population. The FBI's Uniform Crime Report (UCR, 1991) stated that of 10,516,399 arrests in 1990, Whites (Caucasians) accounted for 68.96 percent (7,251,862), African-Americans 28.99 percent (3,049,299), American Indian/Alaskan Natives 1.1 percent (115,345), and Asian/Pacific Islanders 0.95 percent (99,893). The Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics 1990 indicates that national incarceration rates are also disproportional in the number of minorities present:*

(A) Whites 48.21% (343,550)

(C) American Indians/Alaskan Natives .84% ( 5,994)

It is a known fact that the justice system is tougher on blacks. Not making excuses for any race but it is a fact that a white and black person can commit the same crime and the black person is more likely to get a much more tougher sentence. That's just the way it is right now in America. Things are changing slowly though but this is the reality of today. Maybe you should do some research on that also

Inked Nerd it is sad that you went through what you did here in America. If I were one of the people you had met, I would have been proud to embrace you. As a little girl, I was always amazed when another student came into my class from another country/culture. I was the one who always made friends with the new students. I knew I was going to learn something new from them. I am an African American and I was picked on by classmates all the time because I always made good grades, mostly A's. Some of my classmates wanted to fight me because I made good grades. Some of those sames children grew up to dislike others because of differences they have. We are not all negative towards Africans. For an AA to be negative towards Africans because they are Africans, is for them to be negative towards themselves.

I agree with you. Not all AA are bad. Actually, a good amount of your people are quite a pleasure to be around. At my university, many of my closest friends are AAs. I have been embraced in their families, and I have dated AA women.

When I think about it, I think it is more of a class issue than a ethnic issue. AA that are educated or they come from a high social class tend to be more respect of Africans than those who are not educated.

But AAs will always be near to my heart, because the majority are descendants of Igbos. If only the went back to their Igbo roots and learned our language and bear our names. cry

I am happy to learn of a name of a tribe I could possibly belong. I have always disliked my American assigned name. I would like to know more about my true roots. I know you didn't mean any harm, but it is not good to refer to African ethnicities as "tribes." Some of our ethnicities are 30+ million people. Europeans like to refer to different African groups as "tribes," even though our ethnicities are sometimes more than their own people. I never hear the Welsh people of Britain being referred to as a tribe even though there are only 700,000 Welsh, compared to 30 million Igbos.

However, many people in this section of Nairaland will be happy to teach you about our various cultures and traditions. I hear that there are AA genealogical companies that can do a DNA test for you to see what African ethnicities you descend from.

Good point, I don't like to use the word tribe either but sometimes I do use it depending on the individual that I'm speaking to.

I know you didn't many any harm, but it is not good to refer to African ethnicities as "tribes." Some of our ethnicities are 30+ million people. Europeans like to refer to different African groups as "tribes," even though our ethnicities are sometimes more than their own people. I never hear the Welsh people of Britain being referred to as a tribe even though there are only 700,000 Welsh, compared to 30 million Igbos.

Please forgive me for my ignorance. I said the word tribe only in a loving way. I know better now. I will find out how to contact one of the genealogical companies and hopefully, I can have peace in my heart of who I am. Thank you for your information and the corrective measure.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you from? And how did you head about Nairaland?

No problem, just simply pointing it out. I know you didn't mean any harm. Many people do understand that the word "tribe" can be quite offensive to some Africans. I am simply here to enlighten those who do not know that the word can be seen as derogatory.

Yes it is unfortunate that some of you have had bad experiences with Black Americans. It appears that your views of us is based on those bad experiences. Is it fair to judge us as a people based on those experiences? I read a comment where someone said that they hate us and another said that we are useless. That really hurts!!I'm a Black American who loves Africans. I do everything that I can to surround myself around West Africans in particular because I feel a connection. My ancestry is from there. I want to learn all that I can about them. I attend church services and events when time permits. I'm treated well and they always tell me to come back.

Just a little side note I love Nigerian movies & gospel music. I like Rosemary Chukwu & Evangelist Elliot Irosayike Aluge. I also like Millicent Rhodes from Sierra Leone. Can someone tell me where I can buy African movies and music?

Nigerians tend to use "extreme" words, even when they do not mean it. For the most part, I will say that many of us enjoy have AAs who find their roots in Africa. I am in full support of AAs going back to Africa to reclaim their roots and becoming more conscious of their brothers and sisters on the continent.

We are all one people. The original man is African, so let us all be friends and move forward. I often see more AA women more receptive to Africa than the men.
